335030 2005-03-17 05:51:00 Hi. I'm having a few "issues" with the desktop in Windows XP. It's hard to explain, but here are some visual aids

XP Default desktop- no blue showing through (www.sal.neoburn.net)

My desktop, but there is blue showing (www.sal.neoburn.net)

Anybody know how I can remove the blue from my custom desktop?

Thanks, Edward :)

335031 2005-03-17 05:56:00 Click on the desktop/properties/appearance/advanced.

Try changing the color one to something else. Most probably the same colour as that part of the desktop, so u wont see it.

335032 2005-03-17 05:57:00 You need to turn on "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop". This option can be found under Control Panel > System > Advanced > Settings > Performance. Jen (38)
335033 2005-03-17 07:11:00 You need to turn on "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop". This option can be found under Control Panel > System > Advanced > Settings > Performance.

Close ... Control Panel > System > Advanced > Settings button (in performance box > Visual Effects tab> make sure Adjust for best appearance has dot beside it. Apply (or OK)

This is what I have anyway :)

335035 2005-03-17 10:03:00 I remember on some WinXP the file type of your wallpaper matters. I cant seem to find which aren't the best to use, but my WinXP seems to play nicely with all, damn :/

If you can, try changing the filetype of your new background to BMP or JPG.

335036 2005-03-17 10:24:00 Is you setting set as Jen pointed out, or if you want all the effects like Myth.

This will give you the look you are after.

If it dosent I would look at refreshing your video drivers with the origional or updated.

335039 2005-03-18 10:50:00 It is a great way to speed up a slower computer. You select custome, tick the above check box, well.... the last three to keep the XP look, with all the other stuff off you will notice a great improvement. Of course only if your computer was slow to start with. Rob99 (151)
