| 334947 | 2005-03-17 03:02:00 | I'm just trying out the 'system rescue CD' promoted in last month PC World. When booting up the system from CD, the install starts correctly then hangs where it says sda>1: host protected area (or very similar) so I went ahead and tried a yoper CD, and a very similar prob occured. The install moved past the sda>1: host... etc... and then stalled where it appeared to be looking at the sda partitions. My configuration is an Asus P4P800 w 512 an sata 120Gb seagate (windows boot drive) in two partitions. a pata 80Gb seagate in four partitions (none active) I'm not a total linux nonce (I run basic servers on two other PC's), but I'm not totally with it either. Help well appreciated!! thanks. |

| 334948 | 2005-03-17 06:23:00 | Hey There, I would be surprised if it worked. It hasnt been updated since about middle of last year. If you MB is newish you could have probs. I see in their forums that nforce 2 MBs have trouble. |

| 334950 | 2005-03-17 18:37:00 | Hmm, Yoper IIRC have support for sata drives, well thats if the creator compiled sata support in, because your mother board uses the ICH5 chipset, and that is compatible with linux-2.6 . Have you tried installing yoper onto the 80gb disk, or is that not an option? |

According to the blurb on the bottom on the website, it is based on the Gentoo LiveCD because it is easy to keep the packages updated. It is a great LiveCD to have handy as well! :) |
