334936 2005-03-17 01:30:00 I was just wondering what program you guys use that checks the pc performance and parts to ensure that everything is working normal....

I am trying to make sure that my computer if fully updated because I have been obtaining low fps (frames per second) in games and lowering the graphical settings and resolutions is barely increasing my fps...so im sure something is wrong...

I have defragged, scanned for viruses and spyware...

I am trying out a program called sandra which does what im looking for and gives you tips on how to make you computer run more efficient...so I was looking for similar programs so I can compare and find one that suits me...

Thank you for your help

334940 2005-03-17 06:13:00 The games havent just started running slow....my specs are 1.5 pentium, pc 133 sdram 768, and radeon 9600 pro 256 megabyte....I was trying to run doom 3 on the lowest settings and lowest resoultion and i basically get the same fps when i run in on high settings and a higher resolution...I thought that lowering the settings would give me a boost...I went to their forums and they even said that my comp is outdated but I shouldn't be getting fps at such a low rate...I was getting 7-15 fps when i encounter an enemy...

I havent updated my motherboard but i am unsure of how to do so....

I used sandra and got some information but not sure exactly what represents the motherboard...

is it the chipset?
Asustek 82845 Brookdale

Mainboard?
Asustek
p4b-La
Rev 1.xx

do these things have to be updated... I updated my bios (not sure if that represents the motherboard)...sorry really new to this stufff...thank you

334941 2005-03-17 07:04:00 my specs are 1.5 pentium, pc 133 sdram 768, and radeon 9600 pro 256 megabyte...

The cards ok.
The CPU is a bit slow.
Quantity of ram is good but the speed si terrible.

Upgrade to a board capable of DDR ram at least.

334944 2005-03-18 00:35:00 the biggest problem with your pc is the chipset, ram and cpu.

those sdram p4 mobo's run like crap. i think at the time the p3 systems could run quicker. you have to remember the sdram p4's where a BUDGET solution.

as far as upgradeing goes...you need new mobo, cpu, ram, psu and mayby case (and OS if its a restore disk jobbie).

Wow I didnt know it was that bad....I felt that I wasn't properly taking care of the computer but I dont feel that bad anymore... :)...

I guesss I shouldnt worry about trying to update the driver to the chipset/motherboard because it wont do much right...

I guess I will just wait till june for my new comp and I will def be asking alot of questions here....Thank you guys
