334819 2005-03-16 22:52:00 Hi Everyone

I have upgraded AVG Free version 6 to version 7 and am having problems with some mail being returned . The message is as follows:

""This is the AVG E-mail Scanner program .

I'm sorry to have to inform you that the message returned below could not be delivered to one or more destinations .

Cannot open smtp connection to '203 . 96 . 92 . 131'
Connect: A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host . (10065)""

Have Googled the 10065 reference and am told it is a Winsock error, (whatever that is!) The returned mail has been addressed to a number of different ISPs in the UK and in mu home town .

I am using Windows XP Pro with SP2 with default security options enabled .

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and how it can be fixed?

Would appreciate some help, please .

Regards

Gillie

334820 2005-03-16 23:12:00 check the emial settings in AVG. i've had one that did that but worked fine after simply veiwing the settings, go figure.
also check your firewall dosn't check/quaretine email (ZA exspecialy).

if all else fails uninstall AVG and reinstall it useing advanced mode and don't install the mail scanner (use plugin or nothing).

edit- also do the usual spyware/malware scanning as programs can have problems hooking into the winsock if certain spyware are already hooked in.

334822 2005-03-16 23:23:00 Make sure that your email program is not set to hangup after sending and receiving.

In AVG Control Centre disable Outgoing Mail Scan
