334823 2005-03-16 22:29:00 I have a GE force FX 5200 graphics card.
I have only one game. MS Flight Sim 2005.
I have been trying to improve the quality of video by changing settings in Advanced Settings. My changes don't make much difference. And I don't know what I'm doing anyway.
But I have discovered that I am playing at 20 frames per second. I understand this should be much higher.
But the game says 20 fps (locked) !!
How do I unlock it?
In fact , how should I have the settings anyway?
Any help appreciated,
Jack

334824 2005-03-17 01:11:00 I don't think chnaging your settings will help much.
What are the specs of the rest of your PC?

334826 2005-03-17 02:48:00 What settings are you changing?

If there are any sliders, move em to performance, disable AA and anistropic filtering, disable v-sync.

334827 2005-03-17 03:22:00 I have MS FS 2002 Pro.
Go to Settings -> Display -> Hardware tab, then change the target frame rate. Mine is fixed by MS at 43, you can scrol the bar to the left or right to decrease or increase.

I have only a laptop at thei point, I left it as 43 FPS but my vid card only manages 20 on avg!! So yeah set a high number and let the vid card and your computer dictate what u can reach..

Also do the setting: best quality vs best performance, ie .. the smoother look or the prettier look.

334828 2005-03-17 04:37:00 Ah. Its a bottleneck then. Why not upgrade the card, all that nice ram and a decent CPU and the (not being rude but) sad card. pctek (84)
334829 2005-03-17 06:11:00 AMD 3200+ 64 bit CPU and that graphics card, not too aware of that vid card, surely you can achieve more than 20FPS. With that CPU and a 660GT you should hit 150 FPS man. I have read the benchmarks.

Mine says "20 FPS (locked at 43 FPS)". I am with MS FS 2002 Pro, with a P3-600Mhz, 320MB, ATI with AGP 2x, 2MB of video RAM, some ATI Mobile RAGE crap ....

334830 2005-03-17 06:40:00 From the looks of it, FS 2004 is a lot more demanding than 2002.
They been saying a 3Ghz with a good vid card is really the min? Anyway try to unlock your FPS via the settings, if not enof consider a vid card swap too.

I read one guy locked at 25, once he unlocked it it jumped to 60.
