| 334739 | 2005-03-16 19:16:00 | I got such a good response to a previous query, I thought I should try again. With XP/Office Pro '97, is it possible to increase Word & Excel default Zoom to, say, 120%? Both programs are too squidgy on my new LCD display. Increasing dpi makes another program I have unusable. Thanks Geoff |

To zoom in or out of a chart sheet, click Zoom on the View menu, and then click the option you want . To size the chart sheet so that it fills the entire workbook window, click Sized with Window on the View menu . When a chart sheet is sized with the window, you cannot zoom in or out of it . It goes to 200% . Or u could type in under custom 120% . Zoom is also under view in Word . Not too sure if u can set it as default tho . Have u enabled Clear type in XP . Since u use an LCD screen?? |

If it all goes wrong, delete normal.dot (with Word not running) and Word will create a new clean version with standard defaults when it next runs. (This tip fixes 90% of all Word problems). In Excel it is "book.xlt". |

It will not affect any previously created spreadsheets though, but they should hold their view once set and saved. I cannot prove that in Excel 97 though, as it is a long time since I have used it, having moved on progressively to Excel 2003. |

| 334744 | 2005-03-16 21:53:00 | Thanks folks for answers so far. Now, 'scuse my ignorance, but how do I get to this 'normal.dot' template? I opened a new Word, clicked File then Open then selected 'Templates' in Files of Type box, but no normal.dot arrived. ??? Thanks Geoff |

| 334745 | 2005-03-16 22:23:00 | It is a hidden file so you would need to have "show all files" enabled in Windows Explorer. Probably the easiest way is to do a search for normal.dot and open it from there. In the Search dialogue box you will have to ensure that it looks for hidden files and folders or it won't turn up. |
