334898	2005-03-18 04:57:00	After 12 hours of troubleshooting,...............yep been there occasionally too........at least it's not only me that gets the real hairy ones sometimes......ones you can spend hours and hours trying to fix and trying hard not to lose the customers data/apps etc and never get paid all that your time was worth....but at least one ends up with satisfaction.......(and SOME money !!) Although his last support call to me was because he had worked out he needed a faster monitor to play games........umm.........possible with some lcd monitors that have slowish response times...... you mean that I need to keep my machine on to allow backups to occur??..............yes .....and to download antivirus updates......I had a customer, (old lady) who I'd installed a av program for some months previously.....well anyway she had a different problem so i went to fix it and noticed that her Av prog hadn't been updated althought I'd set it to do so automatically at a certain regular time at night...asked her what was the haps and she said words to the effect:" oh yes that comes on every night so when it does i turn off the computer and go to bed. I think it updates like the emails which come in over night." UM...............yep.......and I never bother to plug in my toaster when I want to cook toast either.........how the hell anyone can believe that a machine which operates using electricity will work when turned off I fail to understand......... Oh and I often get folks ringing me to fix some minor prob over the phone and they call using their cellphone cause they think they have to be online to fix whatever it is which most often has nothing whatsoever to do with the internet........ Also, once you touch a machine you get the blame for everything else afterwards..........hmmmmmm...........yep.....can happen.........	drcspy (146)
334899	2005-03-18 23:27:00	I'll try this again, I have had to delete it 3 times due to the venom in my words, I have a comp here, Its been to 3 different shops (first shop formatted it) in the last 3 months for serviceing.I fire it up and its a completely unpatched install of XP,riddeled with worms,viruses,adware,spyware, Just about everything. 3 shops and none of them bothered to install SP2, None of the programs running in startup had been disabled,All temp files were intact and untouched,with a dozen worms/virii having taken up home and getting busy,..... Now, when the client retuns on Monday Im going to explain to him exactly why he was getting constant infections, and what the serivice of the other places consisted of,Hopefully it will get him angry enough to pay them a visit. Imo its nothing more then a scam, Taking the money and returning the comp either still infected or in a state where any infection can just enter at its leisure and set up home I have no idea if its a result or of incompetence or a deliberate act of dishonesty but either way it guts me, If thats the quality of the workmanship I should have all their customers within another year. Yep, those customers of yours who get decent service will tell all their friends and family. I remember this from somewhere: Good service - they tell 4 other people. Bad service - they tell 11 other people. Thats why those sort of places eventually go out of business.	pctek (84)
