By activating this option, Windows uses an seperate process for each task which is a good idea if stability is your goal, but a bad one if you have few memory (two programs use more memory)."

I have

my CPU is 1.6ghz
512 MB of DDR Ram

I am shure this is enuf but just making shure if it is.

Ps: to any one that might know this:
First of all I mainly use Opera as my web browser (I do not really like IE but when needed I use it) Opera however has a lot more options like blocking popups that are not requested. this and 2 other things make me like the opera program a lot better 1 of them is web-pages that I open are all in the program its self. This keeps my task bar from being cluttered up with a lot of web-pages.

Why do I tell you this?

To let you know that I am not using IE (a lot) but even when I do not use it recently I have been inundated with popups of advertisements in IE and I have not even opened IE to link my self to the web pages how do I stop this.
Also Note this happens when opera is both closed and on.

I had a popup stopper (ZeroAds by name), yet it did not stop the random popups that were coming on even when IE was not open.

335163 2005-03-17 23:35:00 It sounds like you have Windows Messenger service running. Go to this page (www.grc.com) and download Shoot the Messenger. When you run it it will disable that service and should stop all the popups.

BTW Good on you for using Opera - it's a great browser!

Has your original problem been solved yet?

I will not know for about a week . Because some times it is a week or so before the problem pops up again . Anyway thank you for all your help .

And as far as the messenger that is one of the first things I manually turn off when I install windows .

If you are talking about something different then this:

"The messenger box" usually it is not an IE box, more like the explorer box that is grayed in the center and none browsable this is what messenger disables .

I turn it of by right clicking on my computer then selecting manage, in the computer management I find messenger and disable it .
(I believe that is what you are talking about) .

As far as the messages or popups I get they are different then what I would get from the messenger popups they are more like what you will get when browseing with :yuck: IE

335165 2005-03-18 08:49:00 As for checking out what your computer is communicating with I find this to be a very useful program, small and easy to start if you notice a lot of activity:

335166 2005-03-18 09:50:00 hows ya antivirus there is a nasty virus that can masquerade as explorer.exe drcspy (146)
335167 2005-03-24 04:21:00 Well the problem is still presetting.

I looked around on the net and from what I have read it could be some videos that I have in my archives.

There is 1 video that I can’t watch because it won’t work for some reason and when trying to delete it is says something else is using it this is not true because I have several times restarted my pc and tried it again and again

Any way is there a way or a program that will delete things better then explorer?

also when I open up winword it takes 70% of the cpu is this the norm?

thank you for your time in reading this.

335168 2005-03-24 04:24:00 again I ask .........hows your antivirus ?............make sure it's up to date and then run it........also delete that file in safe mode........and NO winword should NOT use 70% of your cpu unless you are running a 486 drcspy (146)
335169 2005-03-24 04:41:00 Sorry about that

I thought I told you already about the anti-virus

Well I am using Panda Antivirus Titanium 2005 and it is up-to-date

I was using McAfee but looking around on the net I was convinced that it is not the best and it seems that this Panda is doing good. So far every time a virus comes in it detects it and deletes it (McAfee did not) If you believe there is another or your preference just tell me and ill try it out.

and again thank you for your help :D
