335355 2005-03-18 08:20:00 Hi, can't use Avant Browser to get into my settings in my Gmail account.
Need to, so that I can configure Outlook Express to access my gmail messages.

So, using IE 6, where do I turn on script? Is it the same as Java applets or what? Got the cookies thing worked out Ok and I really don't understand this script business.

In Avant you just uncheck the "disable script" box and away you go. But IE has got me beat.
Would appreciate any help, but prefer if you lay off the suggestions to take on yet another browser because there's enough crap on my computer as it is, and have already played around with a few different ones, so I'm sticking with Avant and IE for better or worse.

Thanks.

335356 2005-03-18 08:51:00 Are u using XP SP2 MMM??

If u r, are you talking about a popup?? Or activex file?? If an activex file, does a bar appear under the address bar in IE?? If it does select it.

If its a popup, you're talking about (If u use SP2), go to Tools/popup-blocker and add the site.

thanks for replying Speedy
I'm still on SP1.
Gmail says I need script and cookies enabled. Have put google's gmail site in the security settings so the cookies are OK. They didn't mention anything about popups.
Also went into Tools>Internet Options> Security Tab>clicked "Custom Level" to open the security settings dialog box.
Then, under Scripting>Active Scripting I selected "enabled" option, clicked OK and closed up the dialog box. It's the script bit that is the problem.

If I use Avant, I can get into gmail but only as html and it won't let me get into settings so I can configure them.
Does this make sense or am I confusing the issue? :groan:
