335668 2005-03-19 03:25:00 Hi people, is anybody else getting a popup/alert about a new version of msn messenger 7 beta and when you click on ok (to install) it says 'Windows has found a problem with this file' saying it doesn't have a valid signature and when you click ok again the box disappears. Is their a new version or is it a hoax ? Overdrive_5000 (4950)
335669 2005-03-19 04:20:00 Well, this is the url for it messenger.msn.com

Dunno, if its the same version or a later version than what u have tho.

Only way I guess is to get it and see if it is.

335673 2005-03-19 19:42:00 Why bother using MSN 7 Beta? I had rather stick to MSN 6.2 because it is safer. Renmoo (66)
335674 2005-03-20 04:18:00 "Safer"?!?

How so?

What is technically speaking "Un-Safe" about MSN 7 Beta?

Unsafe was when I was testing the reiser4 filesystem and there was known bugs.
MSN 7 is simply adding on more features (or bloat depending on your side of the coin).

We've found MSN 7 works at work through the firewall/proxy whereas MSN 6.2 wouldnt :)

Well, you know the winks feature in MSN 7? It can be exploited by people to display overzealous of winks on your screen.

335676 2005-03-20 04:36:00 So basically its your friends that are *******s rather than it being 'unsafe'?!

I know there's exploits for MSN 6.5 which allow you to crash the remote contacts client when they view your picture, as well as remotely download and run arbitary code depending on the exploit. MSN 7 has fixed this.....

335677 2005-03-20 04:38:00 Still, I never trust a Beta product. And mind your language, Chill. Renmoo (66)
