335435 2005-03-18 17:18:00 i've just accidently erased (shift+del) an important file thinking i had already copied it. is there ANY way to retrieve it?? thanks in advance. pcspaz (7634)
335436 2005-03-18 17:52:00 First, don't add in or delete any more files from the directory the files that you shift-delete. Then, wait for some other PressF1 memebers to help you. Good luck on ya. Renmoo (66)

From previous comments on this forum, the rest2514 Restoration program seems to work well. It also runs off a floppy so you don't run the risk of overwriting your deleted files when installing it. Here is the author's home page (www.geocities.jp).

And, welcome to PressF1 pcspaz. :)

Have you looked in your recycle bin? If you deleted from the C drive it will probably be there (unless, of course, you have emptied it).

335441 2005-03-18 20:26:00 shift + delete bypasses the recycle bin. PaulD (232)

Shift+Delete deletes it without putting it into the Recycle Bin

335443 2005-03-18 20:29:00 Have you looked in your recycle bin? If you deleted from the C drive it will probably be there (unless, of course, you have emptied it).Unfortunately, the combination of Shift key + Delete does not send the file to the recycle bin, but immediately deletes it from the system. You have to be careful when using that delete option as there is no chance to change your mind once you have said "Yes" to the confirmation of deletion. Murphy's Law dictates that you change your mind 0.5 seconds after clicking Yes to confirm ...

It is to be used very carefully.
