335988 2005-03-20 00:30:00 Hi,

Came across a programme called Pc Bug Doctor that will scan a Pc and fix or remove any bugs and bits left behind after unistalling programmes. It is a free download and sounds too good to be true, so wondered if anyone had used it and can reassure me that it is a genuine product.

Regards to all

Gillie

Edit - Sorry! the web site was at www.pcbugdoctor.com

335989 2005-03-20 00:40:00 im weiry of these sort of programs, alot of these sort of programs break your pc instead of fixing it, and a few have spyware and adaware.....the only cleaner i would recommend is ccleaner. Prescott (11)
335990 2005-03-20 00:44:00 Yup - it's genuine and will do as the web site describes. There are plenty of similar products like this; you simply have to decide which one you prefer and then make a purchase. Google a search on such as 'pc clean' 'clean repair invalid entries' and similar. Include in the search the word 'review' and / or 'compare'. thepom (7654)
335991 2005-03-20 00:48:00 It's all right actually, although nothing out of the ordinary and is much the same as programs such as Windoctor and Regseeker , but I would only recommend it for Win95/98/ME. Other programs do a better cleanup on 2K and XP , such as Regcleaner (homepages.slingshot.co.nz). pheonix (36)
335992 2005-03-20 01:01:00 have a look at this (www.infopackets.com)

going by a few other sites with user feedback it dosn't look like a good program.

335993 2005-03-20 01:05:00 also i wouldn't recommend regcleaner as posted above.....the maker of it has stated it cleans out some entries that shouldn't be removed which is why its no longer advialable offically. jv16 powertools is its replacement and is highly recommended. tweak'e (69)
335994 2005-03-20 04:48:00 Thats news to me, as regcleaner is part of JV16.

The reason he stopped, was that it was brought by Macecraft. Jv16 and regcleaner are now pay versions, with Regcleaner renamed RegSupreme. In the hundred or so PC's I have used regcleaner on, it has never caused a problem. Quite safe on any Windows machine, including XP.

335995 2005-03-20 05:00:00 its about as safe as any old out of date regcleaner can be .

regcleaner was never part of jv16, the reg cleaning part of jv16 has an improved cleaner .

don't get me wrong here, regcleaner is a very handy program BUT its not recommend for newbies . they better off with the regsupreme or other upto date free ones . as long as your aware its no longer being kept upto date and know how to fix anything it may break its still a good program .

335996 2005-03-20 05:11:00 I trust the newbies with regcleaner , rather than JV16. They can get into all sorts of strife with that. Other registry cleaners are usually incorporated within another "cleanup/fixit" program. There lies just the same amount of trouble a newbie can get into. It maybe old, but then again, so is the principle of the registry.
I run both the regcleaner and RegSupreme on my XP machine, with no problems, and RegSupreme picks up nothing after Regcleaner has done it's thing. The only thing with RegSupreme, is that it takes about an eighth of the time to scan.

335997 2005-03-20 05:15:00 Do you know WHY its a bad idea to use old regcleaners ? tweak'e (69)
