I have just bought a new laptop XP Pro Service pack 2 with 11G wireless
My xisting network consisted of a DSE ADSL router with 4 port switch.

I bought a WAP

set up wap and mac address

I look at the ADSL routers address list and can talk to the WAP configuration menu via the IP address in the router list ok from the network

I can not see the wap console from the laptop

My Laptop connects to the WAP and I see data transferred to and from the wap

I a not able to browse the internet though

I have turned off Firewall
I am running out of ideas

what make/model WAP? has your laptop been assigned an IP address either statically or via DHCP. If so, can it ping the gateway? If so, is the DNS setup correctly?

My mind reading pants are in the wash, you'll have to be a bit more specific please ;)

Thanks for the reply
I disabled wep and mac address

to make the setup easier
Found the problem was that XP puts the wireless networking as a bridged connection

removed from bridges and Hey presto It works
