336382 2005-03-21 02:36:00 In my quest of fixing my CD-ROM/DVD reader in my IBM T40 latop (please read "Trouble with IBM T40 CD-ROM/DVD reader drive for more information - I decided to buy a new drive - but not from IBM direct. Does anyone know where can i buy a third-party slim cd-rom drive at cheaper rates currently offered from IBM? Thanks Jerry_ (6867)
336383 2005-03-21 03:10:00 I had a quick look around but couldn't find anything. Suggest maybe try the various manufacturers websites first to see if anyone makes it, then try source it locally. Have you considered getting an external drive? Greg (193)
336384 2005-03-21 04:05:00 The drive would not be built from IBM, it'll probably be manufacturered elsewhere, If you could recall what type of drive it was found as under your operating system, this would help more in finding drives that could be compatible.

Although, you'll probably just end up buying the exact same similar drive, just rebranded.

336385 2005-03-21 04:51:00 Wow, just look at what a little research can do: Just found that this shop sells what i want (www.acquire.co.nz) or this one (www.ascent.co.nz).
Just making sure that the cd-rom/dvd reader are the right one for my model.
Thanks
