336217 2005-03-20 21:48:00 Greetings.
I have found that something is happening inside my PC (win2k) that is gobbling up all my bandwidth. Yesterday I was recording up to 40mb of useage every 1/2 hour with absolutely no applications running.
I ran AVG, spybot and adaware, but nothing found.
It seems i may have to buy some software to clean this out. Does anyone know of anything that will do this job. ?

Thanks

336218 2005-03-20 21:54:00 You could try this vil.nai.com

Its small but may pick up something.

Or do a scan online here

Or here

336219 2005-03-20 22:00:00 in addition to Speedy's excellent advice , perhaps a firewall such as Zone Alarm's freebee may help identify just what is using your bandwidth

works well , and the price is right ...

336220 2005-03-20 23:23:00 Thanks. I forgot to mention I have the zl firewall installed (freeware).
It seems to quite happily let all this activity go on.

336221 2005-03-21 00:18:00 Of course it does.... :D

Try another firewall perhaps?!

336222 2005-03-21 03:29:00 ZA should say what is accessing the net.

odds are you've ok'ed access for some nasty or it could be just windows update doing its thing.

check what program you have allowed and basicly just block them one by one untill the downloading stops.

336223 2005-03-23 16:19:00 Try using SPF (http://www.sygate.com ), it can tell you in detail on what application is connecting to the Internet and so on. Cheers :) Renmoo (66)
