| 336621 | 2005-03-22 00:31:00 | Hope someone can help me here . . . I have recently bought a computer from DSE with a built in 8x DVD RW (not sure of the brand) . I have tried burning DVD video using Nero and am having problems . It simulates fine and takes around 20 minutes but when it comes to burn it slows down (it says it's burning at 4x but seems like it may be 2x) and gets to around 10% and fails . I'm using DSE 8x DVD-R media (10 pack spindle) . I have tried shutting down anti-virus software and Zone alarm whilst burning but same problem . What's wrong?!! Also, should it be saying 4x (this is the maximum I can burn at) when the drive is 8x? Thanks for any help . . . |

You may need to try different brand of disk Also, should it be saying 4x (this is the maximum I can burn at) when the drive is 8x? The disks you are burning will be 4x disks . The burner will only write at 8x if you use 8x or higher disks |

| 336624 | 2005-03-22 01:04:00 | DSE DVD-R's are crap. Try TDK or Mitsubishi. Never had a problem with these. Imation aren't too bad either. I'm gonna give away the DSE discs. |

| 336628 | 2005-03-22 01:52:00 | I use to use Imation in my old 2x DVD burner and they were okay. Haven't tried them in my 8x burner. DVD-R are IMO more compatible with DVD drives/ players. If your DVD burner isn't dual format (only DVD+R/RW) then you have to use DVD+R. Most DVD burners are dual format these days. |

| 336630 | 2005-03-22 05:40:00 | Welcome to PressF1 Alistar DVDs are not like CDs, they ARE MORE PICKY! What works for one drive wont work for another. My Optorite DD0201 loves cheap Princo Media! Hopeless with TDK media. CMC is _alright_ with this drive, but Princo is better My Toshiba/Samsung Dual-Layer DVD+/-RW loves the CMC media, burns at 8x no worries. TDK is acceptable, burns at 4x (Only 4x media) and the Princo stuff sucks, it just doesnt play on anything. Find the discs that suit your drive. Many drive manuals will tell you what type of media they prefer. Chill. |
