1382219 2014-08-21 21:06:00 I randomly get this error message in the Reliability history log:

"Host Process for Windows Services Stopped working"

OS: Win8.1 - with latest updates.

I only get this error randomly, no fix pattern; probably this makes trouble-shooting more difficult.

What is this Host Services? What does it do?

1382220 2014-08-21 21:40:00 It's the method your OS uses to handle shared services

Here are tools for diagnosis... process explorer or process monitor are where I'd start

1382221 2014-08-21 21:41:00 These are windows services that run from shared dll files, so if something has errors it can be one of many things causing it.

1382222 2014-08-25 11:09:00 The error doesn't appear again since I uninstalled Windows update KB2982791 and KB2975719.

Are they related or just coincidental?
