1382182 2014-08-21 05:45:00 I brought my Logitech G930 around four years ago now and have had nothing but problems. From audio drop out, static noise, incompatibility with PC voice software, charging, breakages and other things. All said and done, it's the only Logitech device I have ever wished I never got.

Since then I have had nine replacements under warranty, and as of November last year, Logitech came to the front for me and gave me my 10th set that has, or very shortly will be dying due to non-charging and what seems to me to sound like creepy electrical sparkings when connected to charge.

So I'm looking for a replacement.

Google gives me great sites that fail my independent reviews - for example, a site has to be unbiased in its review and not require/expect payment. Sites are often reviewing products that give them payments if they get people buying from their "Buy Now" links. I hate this method of reviews as it taints honest reviews. So I need actual peoples reviews and thought of asking the crew here.

Cannot be Logitech
Wireless
While I don't often use 7.1 sounds, that would be a great bonus
Overcharging was considered to be a fault of the Logitech G930 problem twice, so overcharging capability is 100% needed.

I use it for games, movies [HD], Music, and Internet TV.

Budget... 300 NZD give or take a must have item.

Thanks for the suggestions and reviews guys.

More is still welcome :)

1382185 2014-08-21 14:37:00 If you don't need the mic, buy some actual headphones. Is wireless a must? You'll get a better set of cans which aren't wireless in that price range. icow (15313)
1382186 2014-08-21 21:52:00 I imagine Logitech regret putting the G930 on the market, it's been nothing but trouble, the majority of users of them experience some level of audio dropouts.

Good alternatives would include the Corsair Vengeance 2100, or Turtle Beach AirForce PX4.

As an aside, for a more 'standard' wireless headset, the logitech h600/h800 sets are awesome. They are good sound quality, good range, no dropout issues etc - but they are not full-ear cups (so don't block out exterior sounds) and are not 7.1.
I upgraded from my G930 to H800 and couldn't be happier.

1382187 2014-08-21 23:52:00 A few things come to mind here:
1) Wireless, I know it's nice, but as others have mentioned you seem to just get better made headsets that are wired. More comfortable, and lighter on the head.
2) 7.1 "sounds" nice in theory, but the reality is you can virtualize a lot of the same effects. I've used 5.1, 7.1 and 2-channel, a lot, and to be honest most of the time I really just can't tell the difference. I'd rather a _nicer_ set of 2-channel any day

Anyways, I've gone through a variety of headsets in the last couple of years, and my brother-in-law seems to burn through a new pair every 2-3 months. We both keep coming back to these:

They're just so comfortable after hours and hours worth of straight use... They sound great too! They're not "uber high end" but they're certainly some of the best in their class IMO, sounding even better than the likes of the AudioTechnica ATH-M50's I was cranking for a while :)

Seriously worth considering. I've raked up close to 2,000 hours on my Siberia V2's now! They're fantastic :D

www.youtube.com
That was 7 years ago, a very basic demonstration but still shows you that you can do it all with 2 channels. Tek Syndicate on YouTube do some interesting stuff about audio, look them up :)
