Now that'll fix all their problems wont it.-
All we need is now for Yahoo to change theirs to "bright" and we'll be back to normal again - Yeah Right

1368182 2014-02-20 20:06:00 That's so corny. They should've made a new company with the name as a wholly owned subsidiary. Greg (193)
1368183 2014-02-20 20:22:00 From one online dictionary ( except the wording in Brackets)

Spark

An incandescent particle, especially:
a. One thrown off from a burning substance. (Yahoo/Xtra combine)

b. One resulting from friction. (Xtra Customers)

c. One remaining in an otherwise extinguished fire; an ember. (Yahoo)

Yep Spark will work, as its not a real fire :D

Call it what they will its still the same company, changing a name wont do anything. ;)

1368184 2014-02-20 20:23:00 Why not 'Scribble' - isn't that what they called their new logo?

Saw this:
Telecom Chief Executive Simon Moutter says Spark better reflects the company's new direction with the inclusion of new technology such as broadband and mobile apps.

"As a company we've moved far beyond the home telephone," says Mr Moutter.
I don't follow the logic there.
The name "Telecom" has always made me think of "Telecommunications", a term which covers pretty much every type of communication in the modern world aside from letters, which Telecom doesn't provide.

Who else thinks that Telecom = Telephone? Certainly not me.

1368185 2014-02-20 20:27:00 First they change their logo to some stupid asterisk that was designed by a 12 year old, then they change their name from something that is identifiable to every New Zealander for the past 40 years to something totally generic and meaningless. I was always to told that successful marketing is about developing an identifiable brand.... Like .....Telecom :-D and unsuccessful marketing would be like loosing a well known brand name like.... Telecom...... and calling it something that could be easily confused with something else, like.. say...."Spark".

They must be smoking some good weed up at Telecom towers....

Telecom announced a flat net profit for the half year of $167 million, up 2.5 per cent on the same period in 2012.

Guess that would buy some of the good stuff :D

1368187 2014-02-20 20:52:00 What BRIGHT Spark came up with Spark? Bryan (147)
1368188 2014-02-20 20:56:00 Sounds like April 1st has come early this year. "First there was a Spark, then there was a Flash, then a Bang and it was all gone"

What a complete waste of money this is..

1368189 2014-02-21 00:34:00 Wonder if they snagged the domain name years ago, or bought off someone for $20mil :D
