1368220 2014-02-22 00:49:00 Who in their right mind wants to sit in front of a PC to watch a movie or a sports match?

I certainly don't.

I'm more than happy to pay my Sky subscription :)

Me, but that's probably because I don't have a tv or any other means to watch stuff at home

Depends on how old your TV is. Many of the newer machines have ethernet plugs or wifi built in - so you can just connect to the interweb and away you go.

As gary67 said, you can always just output video from a PC onto a TV...

HTPC for the win

1368226 2014-02-22 01:45:00 When your TV _Is_ a computer able to watch online content, what's the difference?

My DVD Player lets me watch Youtube. It's barely a step further - and my TV is 5 years old.

I like FTA broadcast (I refuse to pay for Sky TV, and instead stick with Freeview) but if there was a decent supplier of TV-on-demand in NZ I would consider paying a small amount.

That was how QuickFlix started here.. PC Only. I suspect that Telecom will be talking to the Likes of Apple TV and smart TV vendors about a plugin. I suspect not TiVo as they are Australian run and have just signed up with Australian Quickflix.

1368229 2014-02-22 22:41:00 All the ISP's rely on Chorus so it's all really playing with money and fooling us that somehow one is better than the other when they are all ripping us off in the name of privatisation.

We've got a bunch of clowns running Telecom and another bunch running the country.

Check this video a repeat of what was on tv the other night:

www.youtube.com

about 47 minutes to expose the comedy/tragedy of the last 34 years.
