1367539	2014-02-15 04:50:00	I wish my employers would read this thread. They want us to be poncing around with tablets instead of paper records. Problem is the software looks like it's from the DOS era, and is seriously under-developed from the point of view of actually being a time saver for the crew. Trying to reference a previous record involves leaving the current record, going to the appointment screen, then searching backwards for previous appointments that match the name of... "oh, who are you again - I've had to leave your screen to find your earlier record, and now I can't remember who you are". And if there's notes made say from a face to face or phone call that wasn't preceeded by an appointment... well good luck ever finding that! But they don't care about our time or efficiency, they want it to look cool first, and then they'll nag about the dropping efficiency a month later. Corporates suck soooo badly! And app developers need to get out of their cubes and spend a few days at the coal face learning why their great ideas are sh!t in the real work environment. Happy, happy, joy, joy. Probably what is needed is for the UX team to get feed back from the workers and map out a list of requirements and pass that on to the developers. :)	Webdevguy (17166)
1367540	2014-02-15 08:43:00	You certainly answered my question then, Metla. :thumbs: It would seem that people can get a whole lot of "real work" done at work on a tablet or device of their choice. Apparently all it needs is some alteration of old work habits :) Hate to burst your bubble ( not really :p ) but everything Metla posted is nothing new, my lenovo 10" tablet (which I've had roughly two years) can do all of that with the exception of dropbox, and thats only because its not installed. We use the ability to write on the inbuilt pad with the stylus , and insert Pictures taken at the time sometimes when the need arises and print them off or email. In fact we got a couple of choices for printer options. We dont have a PDF editer installed but that would be as easy as installing something like Repligo (play.google.com) - problem solved. We have a keyboard with built in mouse & cover attachment that the tablet clips into, folds down to a nice tidy case. One thing we are going to do, is attach a set of bluetooth speakers to it, so it can be taken outside and played at BBQ's, saves having to setup a laptop to my outside LAN connection. The speakers we are getting have a advertised range of 30ft with a 5 hour battery life. Should be here on the 19th. Add in a SD card with a lot of music and its all self contained, or stream it from over the LAN if at home. We only use it for playing about with really, its a toy. Screens to small to do any daily work we would do.	wainuitech (129)
