| 1367113 | 2014-02-09 00:31:00 | They are familiar with whatever they are exposed to, Its not their fault that adults get sucked in by the same marketing dribble that makes macshitburgers trillions of dollars a year. My oldest son was 7 or 8 when he asked for an ipad, Oh how I laughed, and told him his friends parents are idiots. Better he understands now so he can treat the sheep with the contempt they deserve. As for the comment I'm pretty sure the reasoning behind the anti comments is not about devices in school but rather ipads. iPads are not as cracked up as people think. As it was mentioned earlier its a name brand that being pushed down throats and the sheep follow. Several businesses I know as well, they have ipads for out and about, but when wanting to do serious work they return to the office or use laptops. A couple of customers of mine, their kids go to schools in Wgtn, the schools decided to get devices, they trialed both iPads and android tablets, in the end they went with Androids because the iPads couldn't do over half the the tasks required by the school. What those tasks were I dont know thats all I was told. The people I was talking to said they didn't really care to much, they had iPads as well as Android tablets/devices, some things the ipads cant do some things the Androids cant do. iPad is only a name, is good at what it does, doesn't mean its the best and fit for every purpose. |

The list however doesn't specifically state that the device has to be a tablet so a notebook would be an option as well . I do know that iPads are more easily managed, by way of apple configurator, and can be checked in and out, so it doesn't matter which iPad a student gets given on any given day as their work will always be uploaded to the iPad when checked out to them . There's also a lot more restrictions and things that the teachers can allow / disallow etc . Android is catching up but they aren't up to the security and manageability features of iOS yet . |

If specialised applications you never see the OS. |

(I'm all for computers and progress) (Just wish they go for Windows ones as that is what they will get when they hit the work force . ) Read CyaBros post, then think of them as Client/Dumb computers . Meaning they log onto a server, which has the programs, courses what ever the school provides, could be on local servers or cloud based, just depends on how its setup -- the down side, when ( and it does happen) the servers crash or internet is lost they are screwed, cant do anything . It doesn't matter what device is used as long as its compatible . MS and linux have been doing it for years, as well as many businesses . The actual computers are only there as a connection point to a server, nothing is stored on the device . Many learning institutes have been doing this for ages already . Last time I did this sort of thing was roughly 12 years ago . |
