| 1367598 | 2014-02-13 23:21:00 | Hi Team I have a vintage grenadilla wood LeBlanc 'Noblet Paris' clarinet (s/n 64136) that I am trying to date. The case is a speckled cream colour with brown trim (stitched) and brass reinforcing on the corners, the case catches rotate to latch or unlatch, and the interior is red and has a LeBlanc-Paris emblem. It is in good playing condition and Billy junior had been playing it professionally (in addition to all the other instruments he has mastered) but acquired a better [vintage] Clarinet while overseas so it is now surplus to requirements and I intend to dispose of it. We bought it for him second-hand and probably didn't pay much for it, but the problem is that I have no idea of current value. I'd feel more comfortable if I knew its approximate age. I've read up on the Noblet/LeBlanc history on the web but that is no great help to me for lack of background knowledge. My guess is that it could be from the 50's or 60's. Are there any clarinet aficionados out there who could venture an informed opinion on age and value? Cheers Billy 8-{) :confused: |

Auction value will be directly related to age i.e. either low because of low quality and/or mass production, or middle of the road because of maker's reputation . I do not anticipate that it will have any significant value, but the brand has a long history and I'd be happy if it was worth the time and trouble of advertising it, as prospective buyers would probably want to try it before commiting to purchase.
