| 337191 | 2005-03-23 10:00:00 | My new video card is a Raedon 9800 pro. I've been fiddling with it for the past two days. Trying to get the best value for my $400. I have found the the best setting is to put everything to default and to stop playing with it. Can someone tell me what the following settings do and should they be on or off. anti aliasing? render to texture? transform and lighting? Since I put the new card in my computer seems to be slightly unstable. Quite often when loading or exiting MS Flight Sim 2004 the screen will go blank for a second or two. But playing the game it stays consistant Any coments or answers? |

| 337192 | 2005-03-23 10:09:00 | I explained a bit about Anti-ailising in the other thread, did you do as i advised as far as cleaning the drivers? And you might as well get the latest ATI drivers while your settling in with the card. |

As a matter of fact I even removed nvidaia m/b drivers. The Raedon drivers installed without any trouble. But I'm thinking of doing a format and reinstall. Nothing like a fresh install to get everything working properly. |

The trick to tuning your card in is to change one thing at a time then try it. If you change multiple settings at once then you will have no idea how the change performance. Are you getting the drivers from the nvidia site? they will usually outperform the onces from the manufacturer. |

| 337196 | 2005-03-23 12:21:00 | Try the Catalyst 4.12 drivers. Search on the Ati site. The new 5.x series up to 5.3 perform poorly. In the control panel area you generally just leave it alone and set it to application preference (default setting) and in each particular game set the quality/performance settings as you see fit. If you are up to it you could always follow ATI Catalyst Tweak Guide (www.tweakguides.com). |
