336939 2005-03-22 22:59:00 I have been given an old laptop to use as a security device - using a web camera. The laptop screen is fairly duff but it has been used in the past using an external monitor. I have a spare fairly recent monitor but when I try using it, what is left of the old screen reports a "conflict" somewhere.
It is of course a bit tricky using a partially duff screen, but if anybody can suggest a method of geting the ext monitor to work I would appreciate it. The thing uses Win98

Have to tried Fn "F4" or Fn "F5" to switch between the lcd and the external monitor?

336941 2005-03-23 08:25:00 heh, one idea might be to install VNC on it so you can see the screen from a better machine across a network. gibler (49)
336942 2005-03-23 09:33:00 You could try going to Control Panel>Display>Settings. If theres 2 screens in there you might be able to toggle between them there.
However, it all depends on the Graphics cards ability to run 2 screens
