2005-03-22 15:58:00 | I'm looking for a firewall that... 1. Most of all FREE 2. Blocks pop-ups/ads 3. Works with a pc to pc network (share the same internet connection) 4. Provides great security from hackers Does it exist? Please help me. I used Kerio Personal Firewall but was unable to use the internet connection or share files on my 2nd computer while the firewall running. It might help if I explain exactly what I need it for. I play a online game and people are constantly tring to hack your account # and password. So I need a firewall that protects agianst keyloggers most of all but also protects agiasnt major attacks. I have a pc to pc (crossover cable) network that uses a dial up connection. Thanks for all your help.

2005-03-22 20:33:00 | Kerio is good. Try this below to fix your network problem. Kerio: By default, this firewall disables Windows networking because enabling it would allow other PCs on the local Windows network to access your shared folders and printers only after you entered their IP addresses. To allow access to a particular PC, right-click Kerio's system-tray icon and choose Administration,Microsoft Networking. To enter a single trusted address, click Add, select Single address in the 'Address type' list, enter the allowed IP address in the 'Host address' field, and click OK. If your Windows network is shielded from the Internet by a router-based firewall that blocks the Windows Networking UDP ports (137-139), you can safely allow any computer on the local network to access your shared files and printers, by unchecking From Trusted Addresses Only and clicking OK www.kerio.com hth

2005-03-22 23:03:00 | you will be pushing it trying to find a FREE one that does all that. most free ones don't allow ICS. however you can get around that by useing a proxy (eg analogX) for shareing the net and use other methods for ad blocking (host file, browser setings and addons).

It wont do pop up blocking (but hey, use firefox) but should be able to do ics and file sharing quite happily . B . |

2005-03-24 19:34:00 | zonealarm is free and lets you share a connection .......it's very easy to share your connection by using www.analogx.com 'proxy' program ........much easier than microsoft ICS...........as for blocks popups well there are a number of methods for that.....including the built in popup blocker in windows sp2...... | drcspy (146) | |
