336868 2005-03-22 10:00:00 Hi Folks. Trying out PrimoPDF with word 2003 running on XP Pro.
Downloaded Primo PDF but after opening a file and selecting Print, clicking on Find Printer to select PrimoPDF, brings the response "The directory service is currently inaccessible". Normal print works okay. Any advice from users? Thanks

When primo installs it installs a pdf printer all should have to do is goto......... file ....print and select your Primopdf (name of the pdf printer)from the drop down printer selection, once the primopdf printer is selected click on the print button then that will launch the primopdf application asking for save path (it will save to network shares too) and type of pdf (for print or screen)
I use this with office 2003 on xp home and pro (work) and have no problems. The only thing I could possibly think of is, did you install it as admin user or normal user
edit.....
you do have Acrobat reader installed because Primo will lauch it so that the pdf document can be veiwed

336871 2005-03-22 22:04:00 Hi folks. johnboy - that site was really good, giving detailed download instructions. However, after checking that the routine was followed exactly and checking that Control Panel, Printers and Faxes shows that the programme is an option, on File, Print I still get the same resonse about directory service being inaccessible. Thanks beama for your input - the thing obviously works well if properly installed. Scouse (83)
336872 2005-03-24 03:32:00 Hi beama and johnboy. Appreciate your recent help. Got it sorted. As is often the way, if it doesn't seem to work, download and follow the maker's instructions. I was trying to use the Find Printer option instead of simply identifying the PrimoPDF option in the Printer selection box. I actually have the old full Adobe Acrobat 5 which I used to use to create PDF's in Word 2000. Never could get it to work with Word 2003. PrimoPDF fills the bill perfectly, making good copies including extensive graphics. Thanks again. Scouse (83)
