336741 2005-03-23 01:03:00 hi,iam still waiting for the ram,but i tried a new ps,and it did the same thing.iam starting to think its just the motherboard by the way it starts.sounds like the hd loses power for a second, then clicks, and starts up again.i hope i can still use my cpu,and its not fried.if i cant get it working by today, then iam just going to find a different motherboard.any suggestions on a good socket a motherboard?

The hdd lose power clicks off and restarts. Pull out all drives except the hdd and see if it boots up. That was what happend to my old PC.

Also, can you try another hdd?
Maybe you can boot with no hdd (or any other drives) and see if it gets thru ... so you know its not hdd related or any other drives.

336744 2005-03-23 02:23:00 many hold ASUS boards in high regard , such as this one
www.asus.com
would suit your cpu , intergrated sound and video plus a 8xAGP slot to allow for a video card at a later date if required

336746 2005-03-23 06:50:00 An Asus nForce board is a pretty safe choice for AMD. Excellent boards on the whole. I have a wee bias though. Murray P (44)
