2005-03-23 11:40:00 | Hi I am with ihug bliink broadband and have recently upgraded to the 1 Mbps service. My broadband connection went down for a couple of days, so I rang ihug and we went through all the usual fault finding. Tried 2 adsl modems one a USB and the other a router. In the end they said it was Telecoms fault. and I just had to wait until I was upgraded by Telecom. Well a few days a go I am back up and running. But when I tried to go online this afternoon Nothing Not even a ADSL signal on the phone line GONE. Tried both modems reboot computer and router. Question Why is this happening ? I am missing my broadband. OS is Windows ME USB modem is D-Link DSL 200 router is a ASUS

2005-03-23 11:54:00 | I don't know if I can answer "why is it happening to me?" but I also live in Aucks and mine went down Sat morning, same thing- tried reset, 2 different routers, endless calls to Xtra and as it was weekend had to wait until Monday afternoon for a tech to check the exchange.... talk about withdrawal! One thing a guy on the help desk did tell me was that when he checked something at the 'exchange' there appeared to be a number of other people on the same 'circuit' disconnected... his other comment was that 'maybe they weren't using the connection' which I thought was a bit strange > isn't broadband always on? I guess all you can do is keep plugging away from the IHUG end and don't let them brush you off with 'Must be your router- phone the manufacturer's helpline'.

2005-03-23 14:11:00 | I live in Te Atatu, and have found them very reliable. They had frequent outages between 10pm and 7am for about a week, this was mid january IIRC. In the end it was resolved after three nights calls in a row, Im not sure why or how but they resolved it. Apparently I was not alone thou, as other friends on the Peninsula also had outages with ADSL with different ISP's. Press on, call back every day regardless of what they say. Be nice and friendly, realise its not the fault of the person on the phone, and you will get results Cheers Chill.

2005-03-23 21:54:00 | Its usually Telecom. The ISP doesn't always get the latest info on whats happening. Ringing Telecom is not always helpful either for that matter. As all the depts are separate they don't share info very often. The last time Telecom had an outage (Doing something with their equipment) my ISP didn't initially know. Telecom (as usual) tried to dump me back to Paradise but with a bit of persistece and insisting on talking to someone other than the call-centre person, I found out what the problem was. And thats all I needed to kno. I did point out it would be helpful if the set up a "status" message so people calling would know if there was a problem or work going on in their area and thus not clog the lines with calls, they agreed it would be a good idea but I doubt they will.

2005-05-07 10:10:00 | "Telecom are having major cable issues at Glenn Innes." And issues at Fendalton, Riccarton, and about a dozen other exchanges around the country. The xtra help desk told me to keep ringing and complaining. Hopefully that way they might get around to fixing the problems.
