| 337565 | 2005-03-24 09:02:00 | After an "emerge" is completed I get this message: * IMPORTANT: 47 config files in /etc need updating. * IMPORTANT: 7 config files in /usr/lib/X11/xkb need updating. * Type emerge --help config to learn how to update config files. So, I have used --help config and I have : # find /etc -iname '._cfg????_*' to get a list of files that need configuring, and I have also done: #etc update to auto-merge trivial updates (that must be some of the way there). What would be the opinion if I was to: CONFIG_PROTECT="-*" in /etc/make.conf Is this a bit extreme? and leave my installation open to goodness only knows what  |

I'm actually having a lot of fun with this Gentoo and it works so well. I wonder how it would go on my laptop? It has a 2.4ghz celeron chip and 256 mbs of ram. |
