| 337488 | 2005-03-24 08:52:00 | thought this would be simple...but can't seem to get it work.. i've got an old computer, running win2k with a 2gb hd today i moved an 8gb hd and installed it as slave into the computer it was formatted ntfs before i put it in the plan was to use ghost 7 to make an image of the 2gb drive onto the 8gb, save the image file onto another computer, then copy the 2gb content onto 8gb, so i can then make 8gb master and boot from that and take out the 2gb ran into some problems... in ghost can't see any of my harddrives when i try saving image, but i can select them to be made into an image..werid..i'm guessing it's a ntfs problem i was going to reformat my 8gb into fat32 to prove myself right, so i booted into win2k but then notice i can't see the 8gb at all, doesn't show up anywhere, not even under management.. used win2k setup cd to boot into recovery consol, then i can see the 8gb drive...format it again, back in win2k, still can't see drive not sure what to do now..kinda want to use the 8gb hd asap, since the 2gb can die anyday now... |

| 337489 | 2005-03-24 09:08:00 | Have you got the 8gb connected right? MAster or slave? Prmary or secondary? Jumper set correctly to match how you have it connected? Also the image thing sounds a bit long winded. Why not just Ghost drive to drive straight onto the 8Gb? Ghost will know the new size... |

| 337491 | 2005-03-24 11:24:00 | Well I'd do it this way. The 8gb is going to be the new and only drive right. So connect it as secondary master (unplug our CD for now). Do a disk to disk ghost. Then remove the 2 gb, connect up your CD again, 8gb as Primary. Then take an image of the 2gb when you plug into the other PC. |

| 337492 | 2005-03-25 00:44:00 | after a few tries, following a few suggestions, now i have the computer booting into win2k on the 8gb hd the 8gb is now master and on primary ide 2gb hd now disconnected and taken out from the computer the 8gb hd has 2 partitions one 3gb and one 4gb is there a tool out there that can let me backup my 3gb partition onto a compressed hd image of some sort onto my 4gb partition i've seen a few, but they seem to require too much system resource this computer is running at 150Mhz with 32Mb of ram... any suggestions?? |
