2006-01-15 11:30:00 | Personally I hate websites polluted with advertising. Use Adblock in Firefox to block them, then. Just like what I always do towards PF1's advertisements :D Cheers :)

2006-01-15 21:05:00 | One of the best types of sites to generate revenue is forums, where you have a regular and loyal community, who'll do you the favour of clicking the ads each time they visit. | Greg (193) | |

It costs money to run a site and that money must come from somewhere. If it isn't from ads, then you will see your favourite sites either disappear or start to charge subscription fees. | maccrazy (6741) | ||
2006-01-15 21:22:00 | I know personally I would rather see ads than pay a subscription fee. Google ads have proved very popular though. A blog (http://dooce.com) I visit often has a similar type of ad... "blog ads". If you have the traffic, then there's no doubt that the ads will pay off. | Mary (6534) | |
2006-01-15 21:33:00 | Has anyone here actually clicked on a google ad? At home I block all ads with adblock, anywhere else I ignore them. I think you would have to have a mighty popular website to make any decent money from them.

2006-01-15 22:28:00 | Heh, for years I hated the thought of prostituting my website for the cursed money. Then I weakend and put google adds on it. I wish I had done it years earlier. Now I get a check a month, and seeing its in US dollars, its nice pocket money that I can use to pay for my broadband, telephone and new software. BUT (big but) you do need heaps of traffic ... here are my stats for the month to date [ bleep ] So only 1.7% of people actually click on your adverts. You can't lose, keep it subtle, there are many google tricks to use to better integrate your adverts. I learned heaps from this site, www.webmasterworld.com Contact me if you want some help, buyt there are heaps on the net about advert placement. BTW YOU may not click on google adverts, but there are almost 1 billion (?) users out there, I doubt you will ever run out of people willing to click on adverts.
