337577 2005-03-27 07:32:00 why would you need more than a Gb of email space? 1Gb is enough for me.
Just want to know who is the big brother in the Internet that provides the biggest email account capacity  Anyway, 1GB is more than enough for me. Cheers :)

Yeah right...... But do anyone knows how much Gmail users there are right now around the world? That will surely cost the Gmail team a lot of GB as well as $$ :@@: Cheers :)

337580 2005-03-27 10:25:00 Actualy its 1024 GB

Actually it's 1000GB. The term "Tera" (meaning 1 trillion) means that there are 1000GBs.The the term Gigabyte comes from "Giga" (meaning 1 billion) as in 1000 x MB.

The term you are looking for is Tebibyte - which means 2 ^ 40 bytes, i.e. 1099511627776 bytes. Having said that, even a Tebibyte is not 1024GB, because that would be 1024 x 1000 x 1000 x 1000 etc.

Also for the record, Tebibyte is annoted as TiB, and Gibibyte (2^30) is annoted as GiB.

:)

/edit: This is was officially recognised as the recognition system for binary prefixes in December 1998 by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

337581 2005-04-06 06:44:00 Well, guess what? After almost half year of applying for the 1TB email account, finally it is approved! Check this (www.geocities.com) out! It says on the screen it is offering me 107374182.4 MB, which roughly equivalent to 0.1 Petabyte, or rather 100TB. No email have reach that hriders.com account after emailing to myself several times using my Gmail. Hmmm, seems that this is just a prank attracting people to sign up for it.... Cheers :) Renmoo (66)
