| 337429 | 2005-03-24 04:54:00 | A number of PF1ers have offered GMail invites, but since hearing that Google Mail will 'read' the content of all mail in order to send users selected junk mail, I have not bothered. For those of you who do use GMail, can you give us the guff... are you getting junk mail? Yahoo Mail may be better - have a read: Yahoo quadruples email storage March 23, 2005 12:40:00 This increase to 1GB of online email storage space is slated to go into effect in late April.Any alternative to Gmail is a welcome one.Yahoo's storage upgrade comes one week after Google started offering Gmail accounts to random visitors of its home page. For those of you who do use GMail, can you give us the guff... are you getting junk mail? Not that I have noticed so far. I get very very little spam in my GMail, but I put that down to the newness of the service. It doesn't seem credible that GMail would spam their own customers though, since Yahoo! is equalling their capacity, and I guess Hotmail will surely follow suit. |

I have been with Gmail for many months and only had 1 spam. What thay do have is a system that looks for keywords in your mail and then gives you targeted ads in the side bar. much like google adwords. no one at google is reading all your mail and no one at google is spamming you. |

Thanks for the clarification, Rob. I don't mind side bar adverts, at least not compared to junk mail. |
