337394 2005-03-24 01:57:00 My mortherboard is dead according to QMB shop. I have to new mother board and processor. I have some questions. I want to upgarde my P4 1.6gz processor in D845HV with 133SD RAm to AMD Anthlon 64 2800
i will keep everything incld hd for upgrading do i have to change my casing and will my old ram work on the new mohterboard please help

337395 2005-03-24 02:05:00 no your old pc133 ram wont work with the new cpu and if by some chance you got a mobo which supported sdram as well as ddr which some do, (tho for a 64bit cpu I'd doubt that)........then the old ram would be soooooooooooo slow compared to what it SHOULD be running that you'd be severely crippling that cpu and might as well not have it.......... drcspy (146)

337397 2005-03-24 02:09:00 The AMD 64 motherboard will use DDR ram not SD ram. Your casing may be OK but the power supply might not be good enough. The old hard drive can be used but will slow the new system down unless it is a 7200 rpm model. You may be better off reviving the old comp with a secondhand MB and save for a completely new one.
