338328 2005-03-27 01:16:00 Hi all,
The issue I have is that after weeks of successfully setting up and using a wirless network between my desktop and laptop, I find today, I cannot connect the two. I check everything and find that (on both machines) the static IP address that I assigned to the wifi adaptors is not set because the adaptors are "disconnected and unavailable", kinda weird because they are both connected and switched on, hell its built in to the laptop and its switched on???
Under Network connections on both machines, the adaptor settings are available and I am able to verify that the IP addresses i set for them are still there, but when using IPCONFIG, it says they are disconnected, therefore no IP addresses are set. Any ideas???

P.S. Both machines are using XP and both are able to connect to each other using a crossover cable.

IP addresses are;
* Desktop cable LAN - 192.168.2.1
* Laptop cable LAN - 192.168.2.2
* Desktop wifi LAN - 192.168.3.1
* Laptop wifi LAN - 192.168.3.2

Any help, greatly appreciated.

338329 2005-03-27 01:19:00 just to clarify under IPCONFIG, it says "Media disconnected" for the wireless connection yet the cable connection has the IP address set tvgts (5773)
338330 2005-03-27 01:50:00 You could try bridging the lan with the WIFI?

See what happens.

338331 2005-03-27 02:45:00 cheers for the advice. I did that on both pc's but it could not connect even though i was able to set the IP's, so I removed the bridges on both pc's and reset the ip's on each adaptors (on both pc's) and it now works!

Strange, but sometimes you just have to not understand why and just accept that its fixed and move on, thanks anyway much appreciated.
