338333 2005-03-27 01:08:00 Yes I know, this has been asked before, but please just bear with me.

Two comps both XP Home, Epson Printer. On router, networked & otherwise apparently OK. Epson disc loaded into both comps, Sharing & default printer. Metla comp on LPT1 & Sigma comp on USB001.

Printer works on Sigma But not on Metla. Any ideas as to why not ?? Thanks PJ :badpc: :badpc:

338334 2005-03-27 01:43:00 My memory escapes the past issues with this, but did it ever work?

If the answer is no, then it is entirely possible that the printer does not support networking, there are quite a few that do not.

In truth I cannot remember. However the Epson is connected to the Sigma & will print. Thro the Metla it will not, at the moment. It has printed thro the Metla in the past, but how I don't know. PJ

338336 2005-03-27 01:59:00 Gee it would help to know the model -

oh wait! "Clairvoyance mode" suggests it may be an RX-510 ?

If so, its a multi-function (scanner printer) and these rarely allow networking. Unless the function is built in, then it would be clearly mentioned (as it is in most Brother MFC's that are networkable) in the manual.

While the printer function is usually networkable on many printers, the scanner etc is not easily networkable, so many Multi Function manufacturers take the easier path and simply disallow all functions to network, only to operate on the local PC.

Will try to find out

I guess this is the answer. If so I had better move the USB plug for the Epson RX510 over to the Metla (Maryann's) comp as it is she who wants to use it. Thanks anyway PJ

338339 2005-03-27 12:56:00 Hi PJ,

LPT1? USB001?...

A similar problem came up a while back. Try here (www.pressf1.co.nz) for a possible answer
