338228 2005-03-26 08:02:00 I know the answer to this is simple but I have just forgotten what to do.I have recently reinstalled Win ME on 2 of my own computers(don't tell Bill!).One works perfectly with the basic resolution of 800 x 600 in 16 bit high colour. However the other one seems stuck in 640 by 480 in 16 colours only and cant be changed.I seem to recall that there was an icon on the task bar where one could adjust this. How do I get it to appear? Or is there another solution? amyes5 (2773)
338229 2005-03-26 08:14:00 Never used ME myself but if it's anything like 98 you can right click on the desktop and select properties, then go to the last tab (settings). If you can't change it here either there is something wrong with your video card driver, or there is something wrong with your monitor driver, (or you've booted in safe mode; unlikely) check that these are correct. 338230 2005-03-26 08:40:00 You probably need to reload the Video drivers to get the full resolution options back. godfather (25)
338231 2005-03-26 08:52:00 If I have booted in safe mode (which could be the case) how do i change to boot in "ordinary" mode? amyes5 (2773)

Dont press F8 to go into Safe Mode. Just let it boot into Windows.

And yup if it hasnt got the right resolution, u need to find out what videocard is in it, and download and install the videocard drivers.

338233 2005-03-26 09:34:00 download everest (www.lavalys.com) . this will tell you all you need to know about your computer. use this to find out what type of graphics card or intergrated graphics you have. then google it and download the latest drivers, then install the latest drivers, reboot and it should be sweet :)

any problems just post back :)
