338037 2005-03-26 22:27:00 the orange/what ever other colour light on your case, will blink when it is in use/busy Prescott (11)
338038 2005-03-26 22:32:00 That flashing light (as Prescott said) tells you when data is moving across the IDE bus to/from the harddrive.

There will be software tools out there, just I haven't needed one, so don't know what they/it is called

338040 2005-03-26 22:52:00 Is there any tools of software that can display the HDD activity and usage? Cheers :)Of course there is. A google search only takes a minute or two to find a freeware program that looks suitable.

Google search terms used (www.google.co.nz)

Application found with above search IDE/ATAPI Bus Utilization Monitor (www.bustrace.com) - never used it, use at own risk. :)

338041 2005-03-27 07:37:00 If let's say that both AVG and Avast antivirus software are optimised for 64 bit pc and is running on a 64 bit machine, will the time for full computer virus scanning be quicken up? Cheers :) Renmoo (66)
338042 2005-03-27 07:40:00 i doubt it, a virus scan, scans every file so they all become in use so that makes your pc slow down while scanning. why not virus scan when you are not using your pc?

do you have both AVG and Avast installed?

Yup, quantity of AV should not be ignored as well. But I don't run both AV at the same time, though. I also have an installed-Norton AV, but its signature is outdated. Cheers :)

338044 2005-03-27 08:50:00 you shouldnt have more than one virus scanner installed, this can cause problems Prescott (11)
338045 2005-03-27 08:58:00 Well, I admit multiple AV at times do cause me some trouble. I switch on only the resident scanner of AVG but turn of Norton and Avast. I have plans to uninstall Norton, but it seems too good to be uninstall. At times, Avast can detect certain viruses but not AVG and vice versa. Cheers :) Renmoo (66)
338046 2005-03-27 09:02:00 having more than 1 virus scanner may give you false virus alerts Prescott (11)
