337948 2005-03-25 05:09:00 when i look at my mobo (From Top To Bottom) there is the agp slot, and then 4 pci slots, and then there is one i have not been able to id. it is about half the length of the pci slots and it is black rather than white. i have seen this slot in pics of mobos on the web but i can not seem to come up with an id. what is it what is it used for why is it so hard to find info on this slot?! :illogical reefer4411 (6823)
337949 2005-03-25 05:17:00 Umm might be a WIFI slot. (If it has like 3 rows of sockets, about 21 in each row).

Or an AMR slot. This is for some modems i think.

Some mobos do have them. A few Asus motherboards have a built in WIFI slot. Is your motherboard an Asus Motherboard??

337950 2005-03-25 05:34:00 it is an asus mobo but it is the p4sd-vl. it came in a sony and asus will not offer me any support and sony is as confused as me, they say i only have 2 pci slots but i have 4 and they all work. futher more it dose not sound like it fits your description of the wifi slot. it has two rows of sockets, just like a pci slot, but the first is about half the lentgh of the pci and the second looks the same as the pci's second (if i am not confused on what rows of sockets are) reefer4411 (6823)

Almost certainly an AMR slot. (Audio Modem Riser) Probably dark brown rather than black.

337953 2005-03-25 07:46:00 If you have a digicam, get a picture of it and post it online, that way it's much more easier to identify. Renmoo (66)
