| 338907 | 2005-03-28 23:09:00 | Hey i have a problem with my computer . recenlty a message has been coming up it says . "message from windows to alert . microsoft windows has deteCed spyware on your pc . Your computer and files are in seroius danger" . It also does this one sometimes too, "STOP! WINDOWS REQUIRES IMEDIATE ATTENTION . Windows has found 47 critical errors . To fix the errors please do the following . 1 . download registry repair from:www . reg-patch . com 2 . install registry repair . 3 . run registry repair 4 . reboot your computer . FAILURE TO ACT NOW MAY LEAD TO DATA LOSS AND CORRUPUTION" . Im sure its not an acutal message from windows . I think it might be a virus or spyware, but i tried norton antivirus but it didnt detect it . Nethier did spybot . I tried doing a system restore cos i got an HP and it still keeps coming up . I am running my system like this: P4 2 . 67ghz processor, samsung 40gb hdd, 256mb DDR SDRAM, windows xp home . |

| 338909 | 2005-03-28 23:25:00 | Hi regenald Yes, that message is just advertising spam and not a genuine Windows message. Spybot doesn't detect all types of malware, so have a read of this FAQ (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz 16) for looking for and getting rid of spyware/malware. Have you got your WinXP fully updated with security/critical patches? Have you got a firewall turned on? Welcome to PressF1 as well. :) |
