how much SYSTEM ram do you have?
if you really want to upgrade the graphics card you could go for a TNT2 or something similar, it really depends on what you want to do with your computer, do you want to play older games?

338848 2005-03-28 11:02:00 The ram issue and the graphics card are two different problems.
I'd get the fastest, best card that will possibly go in your MB - whatever that is, are you sure its only AGP 1x? Not 2x?

And you upgraded to XP? I would have left Win98 on it, would run much better.

338849 2005-03-28 11:34:00 i pretty sure its AGP 1 its a brown coloured port

338850 2005-03-28 11:49:00 All AGP slots are brown normally, whether 1x or 8x. If you want to find out more about your system hardware specifications, download and run this free system information program - Everest (www.lavalys.com).

How much system RAM do you have with that machine? You can find out how much RAM you have by looking at the general tab found via Control Panel > System. This will be a big performance bottleneck.

338854 2005-03-28 22:00:00 was it a dirty install of xp? ie did you just install it over top of win 98? and have you ran a up to date virus, adware and spyware scan? have you defraged your hdd? Prescott (11)
338855 2005-03-28 22:14:00 8xagp are orange.

Mine's not :)

aidanmaz (member.php?u=11163), you say it doesn't like the low memory, presumably of the graphics card - do you say this because of the sluggish movement of windows? If so, this can be caused by drivers, where Windows doesn't know how to use the card so it will use the CPU to draw things, making it slow.
