| 338626 | 2005-03-27 23:39:00 | Just bought a pentium 4 and pcchips mobo and powmax case with a400w psu using old emachines hdd and ram. Installing windowsxp and it just off right in the middle of it ,cool right?NO!Rebooted like everything was fine and then shut off AGAIN!Now it will not turn on when the button is pressed though if it is left off for a tik the lights on the keyboard and case will flash very briefly.I am really scared that the cpu is damaged but I want any help or comments PPPLLEEAASSSEE!!!!!!! |

| 338627 | 2005-03-28 00:18:00 | Hi, Welcome to PressF1 :) Did you assembly this computer yourself? Did you check your old RAM is compatible with the new motherboard? When you do turn it on, does the cpu fan spin up? You should also check that all the plugs and cards are firmly in place and nothing is shorting out the motherboard from not having the mounting spacers correctly installed. |

| 338629 | 2005-03-28 01:19:00 | Has the mobo got a 4 pin ATX connection? if so is this plugged in from the power supply? This is for the CPU. And as Jen said, DOES the cpu fan spin when u turn the system on?? And are there (or were there) any beeps, when u turn the system on? if it still turns on? And did u plug the CPU fan into the cpu fan connection on the motherboard?? |

| 338631 | 2005-03-28 01:34:00 | Ok. The on/off button, on the case isnt sticking is it?? I just had this prob with the other PC here. It kept on staying in and turning the PC off, as soon as I turned it on with the button. BUT i got round that with going into the BIOS. So when u press the spacebar the system starts. And sometimes these Molex connections for the power are pretty flimsy. They tend to come out sometimes. And this will also stop everything, even if just 1 of the wires have come out of one of these molex connections/plugs slightly. |
