338440 2005-03-27 09:43:00 Hi there!
Got recently DVD-RW-R drive. A problem appeared that it plays some DVDs and don't others. The same DVDs play ok on external player, not DVD-RW. After being told that I should set our geographical area. Done that and it started to play ok. But now the setting is off, blank and I cant reset it.
Any ideas or previous experience?

338442 2005-03-27 11:21:00 Hi Taly- are we talking about a regional code problem here ? IE did you have to change the region for the player a few times to play different disks ? Some players seem to allow you to change this " regional code " thing 4 - 5 times , then lock the region ie you cant change it anymore . Lots of info if you seach the recent forum for links to DVD regional problems  KatiMike (242)

338445 2005-03-27 22:58:00 If you're talking about your PC internal DVD I'm afraid if u got carried away with changing the regions, it only gives u so many changes, and locks the region in XP.

ie: if u had Zone 4 DVD's and Zone 1's, (or other Zone DVD's), and u kept on swapping between the two (or more different zones), and the last zone was Zone 1, then it'll be locked on Zone 1, after 5 changes.

338446 2005-03-28 00:26:00 Hi there! thanks for responces.
Using WinXP and MS media player10 and internal DVD drive type Ricoh DVD-RW+R.
Changed regional setting only once and it is Region 4 ok. It does play some DVDs all the time, but others on and of. Tried Cliprex, all the same.

338447 2005-03-28 00:33:00 Well if the other DVD's arent Zone 4 (if theyre Zone 1's or other), thats why.

I wouldnt do this if this is the case. Or else XP will LOCK the region.
