338818 2005-03-29 05:42:00 My thought on frontpage?
YUK!
I reccommend either dreamweaver, or writing the html by hand.
good luck...

I agree with Hamster. There is another alternative half way between a WYSIWSG editior like Dreamweaver and Notepad:

1. For Windows, HTML Kit (see www.chami.com) This was originally written by the w3c (World Wide Web Consortium) so produces very accurate HTML code.

2. For Linux, Bluefish (see http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/).

Both of these products are free.

338819 2005-03-29 06:18:00 DreamweaverMX, easy to use for simple webpages and learning, also will do all your complicated sites as well in a breeze. Rob99 (151)

338821 2005-03-29 08:50:00 Not my area but, as per other posts, I've read that MS Front page is a real rat when it comes to compliant code and compatibiilty with non-MS products.

You probably don't need to spend money on either, plenty of good free stuff out there.

338822 2005-03-29 10:20:00 Depends on how much effort you want to put into it,and how advanced you want your finished work to be.

Frontpage has a 3 minute learning curve,Pretty much instant results.

Dreamweaver has a less intuitive frontend but will take you a lot futher then Frontpage, and your first few sites will take longer to get done.

Horses for courses,I use frontpage because my needs are basic, I like instant, and my finished product is basic.

338823 2005-03-29 10:25:00 Have been using Frontpage 2002 for some time & despite its "Microsoftisms" (like MS Word's own bizarre ideas on formatting & language selection) am a fan. Sure it can butcher a little code (which I try to keep in check by always previewing using a MS alternative such as Firefox) but you can always dive into the code if & when needed & it's simple interface is pretty easy to master if you're familiar with Bill's products. Have heard that more recent versions of Frontpage do a little less butchering of code than previously? nicisace (7454)
338824 2005-03-29 10:28:00 No matter what you people said, I still like MS Frontpage. I am currently using FP 2003, love the preview of HTML while you are WYSIWYG-ing. Cheers :) Renmoo (66)
338825 2005-03-29 21:34:00 Dreamweaver will do it, along with heaps of others.

What type of site will you be making?
