| 338618 | 2005-03-27 22:51:00 | Hmm ok well u dont really need both running . If its Nortons Internet Security on the main one, kill / disable the 2nd one . And do the same as previously posted thru the Wizard . I take it, file/printing is ticked on both, under the LAN icon/properites tab?? I dont think the XP firewall even when on will stop u from networking . . . Only the Nortons firewall . Or just use the Wizard in Internet Security, on the 1st PC, with the 2nd PC's firewall on . See what happens . |

| 338619 | 2005-03-28 00:10:00 | Thanks to all who assisted me, I am now enjoying the luxury of file sharing, printer sharing still eludes me so any ideas would be gratefully accepted, thanks again to one and all | the_inspector (7721) | ||
| 338620 | 2005-03-28 00:24:00 | All u have to do for printer sharing is, go to printers on whatever PC the printer is on . Right mouse/sharing . Select share printer . Give it a name . Then on the other PC . Go to printers add / then find that shared printer . Tell the wizard, its a network printer . Then select browse for printer . Hopefully, its in the network which appears . If its found, select it . Thats it . Note tho, not all printers can be shared . Then to see if it works, from the networked PC, go to the printers after u select the printer (on the networked PC), and right mouse/properties print test page . The main PC will have to be on to print to its printer . And just make sure the printer is connected / online . |
