| 338431 | 2005-03-27 09:49:00 | Have XP PRo as OS. and last evening computer would not boot up at all and couldnt access Safe Mode and could get nothing to work . My drive A is partitioned into c :contains XP os ,D : all my programs, E:video films F: test programs.size 40 gb, drive 2 40 gb which is also partitioned into 5 partitions for photos games etc. I have a ghost disk of my c: only with all my info on it My programs Mail etc so I used a boot disk to just format c:only and then reinstalled basic xp on c: and was then going to use my ghost of c: so I wouldnt loose info On original c:which I need. I have reinstalled basic Xp on c :but paritions D E & F are not showing up when I go into my computer and only C: is showing. I installed Partition magic and it shows all the partitions on my 2nd drive as being ok but only shows my 1st drive as being C:only at 4000.5mb. Where have the other partitions gone to from drive 1 D: E: F:.Is there any way I can find the balance of my first drive partiones with out loosing the info they contain. | norrol (2154) | ||

| 338434 | 2005-03-27 10:36:00 | Hi Prescott, 1st drive shows C: Active & primary (this is all now showing on this drive.2nd drive shows all 5 partitions under status as none and the first partition on this drive is primary with the other 4 logical. Hope this helps norrol | norrol (2154) | ||
| 338435 | 2005-03-27 12:09:00 | Hi Growly, What I need to explain is 1st hard drive (40gb) had partitions c; d: e: f: all full of files. Now after I have formated c: only and reinstalled XP Pro on c: and I open up My Computer it shows this hard drive now contains only c; total size 4000.5mb so where have the partitions d: e: f; dissapeared to.The 2nd hard drive also 40gb and also had 4 partitions on it is still showing all these partitions plus all the files they contain but how do I access these partitions d: e; f: that appear to have dissappeared into thin air from the first hard drive. |

| 338438 | 2005-03-27 23:21:00 | XP would be able to see the partitions if they were ntfs... He has either formatted the entire drive by mistake or screwed up his partition table...... |
