Choose 'Close' to terminate the application This happens almost EVERYTIME i try to open ANY file. Can anyone suggest anything? I am running: Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 Thanks, Jamie |

| 338429 | 2005-03-27 10:31:00 | It is indeed a very common problem, just be wary that it may happen again. What I usually do is I make autoexec.nt file read-only, this may cause some problems with 16-bit programs writing to this file, but as far as I'm aware, there's not really many 16-bit programs, nor do they really need to use this file as XP should be able to handle backwards compatibility without using this file. Cheers, Kame |

Apparently there is somthing in SP2 that can also cause this ( I have experanced this before and the machine's were clean of virus's and spyware) and this is Microsoft's suggested solution , strange thing is................. it works. |
