339719 2005-03-30 22:45:00 A friend of mine who runs a small business and wishes to host his own website . He has got Win2K Server with 10 workstations .

How easy or difficult it is to host his own website? Good links to website hosting instructions will be appreciated .

Cheers

339720 2005-03-30 23:13:00 There's heaps of good hosts around, and several folks have asked about this here. Just do a search of these forums. Hosting it himself can be damn costly here in NZ. Greg (193)

I agree with the modulater. Get someone else to host it. Otherwise he's going to need a new server and server license, (you dont use your domain controller as a webserver), a proper connection to the internet (not Jetstreams 128k upload) and a whole lot of good security.

It is not a difficult task to do, but a webhost will be able to provide faster, more reliable internet connections and possibly a faster server as well. :) Both Myacen (www.myacen.com) and TJR Networks (http:) are good hosts.
