| 339612 | 2005-03-29 23:08:00 | I'm trying to do a clean install of XP, but I can't get it to boot from the CDROM. It keeps getting to "Verifying DMI Pool Data..." and hangs there when I have the first boot device as the CDROM. The HDD is formatted. I have been able to boot with a floppy bootdisk, but I can't access the CDROM from there either. Any suggestions? |

| 339615 | 2005-03-30 02:47:00 | Did all your hardware work fine before you formatted this hard drive? You are getting the DMI error because there is nothing bootable on the hard drive which is to be expected at this stage. You might want to check your CD drive cables are firmly in place. Does the BIOS correctly detect your CD drive? | Jen (38) | ||
| 339616 | 2005-03-30 05:16:00 | Thanks for all of your suggestions. I had set the CDROM to be the first boot device in BIOS, but it never would attempt to boot from it. It kept hanging at "Verifying DMI Pool Data...". It appeared that the BIOS was correctly detecting the CD Drive, but I never could get it to boot from it. I formatted the HDD again, and then obtained a bootdisk with CDROM drivers. I was then able to access XP setup through DOS Prompt. I still have no idea why I couldn't boot from the CDROM, but I guess I'm not going to worry too much about it since I finally got the OS installed. Thanks again! |
